Trip to Toronto Islands

Today we took a boat trip to Toronto Islands. The weather was beautiful, and the lake was perfect. We went to see Toronto from a distance. Yse painted the picture of the city's water view before, however, she did not see it in real life. We had so much fun, renting bikes (these were two-sitter quadricycles), taking a stroll around the green island. Then we enjoyed peaceful supper and ice-cream.

Last days of school!

It was one of the hardest parts of exchange for Yse: to say good-bye  to her friends and classmates at Westminister Public School. She must have taken 300 pictures of everything inside and outside of school just to remember each detail. Here are the photos that she took on her camera.

Danya's Batmitzvah

Two weeks ago Yse attended a school friend Danya's Bat Mitzvah party. We spent lots of time trying to find her a matching outfit, and create an unforgettable look. Here she is..The party took place downtown Toronto, and went well past the bedtime!

Cottage trip

We just came back from a beautiful cottage site near the lake. We had so much fun swimming, and just enjoying the nature and the warm weather...

More French cooking!

Recently Yse has been inspired to create more French dishes for us, thanks to a cooking book she found at the library. She was especially proud to cook a duck, since none of us here tried it before...The entire preparations of the meal took Yse and Maria a good 6 hours, but at the end, the entire family experienced an amazing duck dish, created a-la-french way :) (Yse was a bit disappointed that she overcooked it, since the meat was not quite as raw as she hoped it would be. But for us, the grateful public, it was one of a kind! We just don't know the difference between raw and cooked duck!) So much fun. here are some pictures

Crazy dancing while cooking....

Too spicy!!

Almost final version of the dish!

Also plus some french salad...

Here it is all about presentation, really!

I think we let our family friend try it out first.... He LOVED it...

Plus she made some home made oreo cookies.. Delicious! She took those to school to share with her friends..
